one idea I had is something required to move forward but doesn't have a time limit as a possible alternative or change to the gas leak. an example could be the elevator is malfunctioned and cards can't be put in unless two switches of some sort in different locations are pressed within the same time frame of a few/several seconds to fix the problem. (not nearly enough time to press one and run to the other.)

This could be a possible replacement to some larger maps gas leaks or on maps that it may fit the different tasks like the Personoid Quarters
